Entivity, A Phoenix Contact Company, Announces Think & Do® Studio Release 6.2
With Peer-to-Peer Communication for Windows CE Controllers

CHICAGO, IL - March 5, 2001 - Entivity, A Phoenix Contact Company, a leading supplier of PC-based automation and control software, will release Think & Do® StudioTM 6.2 at the National Manufacturing week show in Chicago this week. The Think & Do® Studio product integrates advanced control and information technology with Microsoft Visio 2000, to give users a complete automation software solution with built-in enterprise connectivity and productivity analysis capabilities. Release 6.2 adds real time peer-to-peer communications for Windows CE-based controllers, as well as provides support for additional I/O devices.

Entivity's Think & Do® Studio dramatically accelerates automation implementation and provides transparent scalability across the full range of Microsoft Windows 2000, NTE and CE platforms.

"We added peer-to-peer communications for Windows CE devices in Studio Release 6.2 in response to the needs of our customers in semiconductor equipment and other OEM market segments," said Andy McMillan, Vice President of Marketing for Entivity. "Entivity customers in several OEM markets are building distributed control solutions on Windows CE platforms, and direct communications among controllers gives them added system design flexibility."

Commenting on the Think & Do® Studio product, Joel Frauenheim, Microsoft Visio Product Manager said "We are excited to see a product taking full advantage of the power and flexibility of the Microsoft Visio platform to bring a standard drawing environment to the automation industry. The combination of automation control and visualization functionality with Microsoft Visio's extensive drawing capabilities provides users with a common visual platform that spans the whole manufacturing enterprise."

Entivity is the first supplier to utilize the Microsoft Visio drawing tools and graphics platform to give uses a familiar environment for all automation drawings. As Andy Hoover, Microsoft Director of Industry Marketing said, "With over 4 million users, Microsoft Visio is already a standard for office and engineering drawing applications. Entivity is a leader in making Microsoft Technologies the standard drawing environment for automation control and HMI."

Kevin Prouty, Research Director, Manufacturing Strategies at AMR Research classifies Entivity's Think & Do® Studio as a Unified Development Environment (UDE). "Think & Do® Studio utilizes the Microsoft Visio environment and marks the continuing evolution combining control engineering and the IT world," said Prouty. "Because Studio also incorporates an HMI and can develop and store libraries of not only control logic but various diagrams such as IT networks and P&ID, Studio takes a significant step in the direction of a Unified Development Environment (UDE)."
