Entivity Boot Camps!

Entivity near release for Live! 5.5.1

Entivity has been working on the update to Think & Do Live! 5.5 and is near completion. Expect Live! 5.5.1 to be a downloadable update on www.entivity.com for all customers with Live! 5.5. This means those without ESS will be able to download the update, but only after completing a web-based form. Look for this release to occur within the week.

After the Live! 5.5.1 release, Entiivty will then turn attention to the next major release for VLC. Entivity anticipates VLC 6.2 to be released in the next couple of months.

Customer Profile of the Month - Lockwood Greene

Flostor

When it comes to maximizing profits you want to eliminate all errors in your process. When the Eaton Transmission plant in North Carolina wanted to eliminate errors, they implemented an error-proofing methodology called Pokayoke. This method eliminates the manual operations that offered no verification that parts were installed properly.

Entivity VLC and DeviceNet field devices offer the control for the system. The control logic, HMI, database extraction, and I/O control is done all on a single PC. The project was such a success and so impressive, it won the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Tennessee Excellence Award in 2003!

"Lockwood Greene has vast experience in programmable controllers, distributed controls, and many other types of control systems. I found that the Entivity VLC graphical flowchart programming was easy to use and troubleshoot."

- Mark L. Goldstein, Instrument and Controls Manager

Power User's Corner!!!

Power up at eAnswer!!!

Create Email Alarms Within Your Control Program (VLC or Studio)

Entivity created some sample code on how to create email messages within our PC-Based Control products. We've managed to compile some code for Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), JavaScript, and Visual Basic Script (VBS).

The code can be compliled and ran in many different ways. You can create an EXE file that will run and based on internal tags will send the email out. Or you can place the code in any ActiveX container (Visio) to send out the email. The example code can be found in our eAnswer Knowledge Base along with and example project for VLC and Studio. Access the article now!

Got Questions? eAnswer is the Place

Visit eAnswer on the Entivity Web Site!

The Entivity eAnswer system is a browser-based knowledge base system that empowers Entivity's customers to find the information that they need, when they need it. eAnswer is available from the Support page on the Entivity Website.

All customers have had access to the eAnswer system since its inception at the end of 1998. eAnswer has had over 200,00 hits and almost 40,000 specific searches since then, helping customers across the globe find answers to issues even when their local time zones and holidays make contact difficult.

eAnswer is also an ideal way to submit technical support questions. When someone posts a new question here, emails are dispatched immediately to all Entivity support engineers notifying them of a new incident. It is not uncommon to receive responses to incidents posted late at night, weekends, and holidays.

Find out more about eAnswer here!
