Entivity Releases the Entivity DataPack!

Entivity has created a new software product called the Entivity DataPack. The DataPack is a low-cost solution for systems that don't need all the power a full-featured package would provide. It allows systems to connect to other runtime systems and gather data in various ways: OPC, DDE, COM, and more. For pricing and availability, contact your Regional Sales Manager below.

VLC's INTERBUS CONFIGURATOR

Entivity VLC's new Interbus driver installs a new Interbus example. This example can be used to query the network and retrieve important information about it. The project will then show a network representation in a graphical format.

This makes configuring the network very simple and intuitive.

IBUS Screen Shot.

Furthermore, the new Interbus driver for VLC allows connections to a non-critical network to ignore all errors. Then when the "Restart Bus" command is executed it will connect and begin controlling the network. This proves to be a very useful function for warm-backup systems.

You can download the news VLC Interbus driver from the Entivity VLC Driver page.

Microsoft Visio powers Studio's HMI Screen Development System

Find out why Visio 2000 is integrated into Studio's DesignCenter!

Visio & Studio Integration

In the September edition of the Entivity Newsletter we introduced the cool tricks you could do with Visio 2002. Then in November's Newsletter we announced the release of the Visio

2002 Extras! With those extras, you can create Entivity SmartShapes. After you've created the new SmartShape you may wish to save it and use it in future products. Here's how to do it.

1. Open the stencil you wish to add the shape to.

2. On the stencil bar, click the icon, and then click EDIT. A red asterisk appears on the stencil icon to indicate you can edit it.

3. Hold down the CTRL key and drag your shape from the page to the stencil.

4. Click the text below the stencil to give the shape a new name.

5. On the stencil title bar, click the icon, and choose SAVE AS.

6. On the stencil title bar, click the icon, and choose EDIT.

From this point forward, when you open that stencil, you will have your shape to pick from.

Got Questions? eAnswer is the Place

Visit eAnswer on the Entivity Web Site!

The Entivity eAnswer system is a browser-based knowledge base system that empowers Entivity's customers to find the information that they need, when they need it. eAnswer is available from the Support page on the Entivity Website.

All customers have had access to the eAnswer system since it's inception at the end of 1998. eAnswer has had almost 128,000 hits and almost 24,000 specific searches since then, helping customers across the globe find answers to issues even when their local time zones and holidays make contact difficult.

eAnswer is also an ideal way to submit technical support questions. When someone posts a new question here, emails are dispatched immediately to all Entivity support engineers notifying them of a new incident. It is not uncommon to receive responses to incidents posted late at night, weekends, and holidays.

Find out more about eAnswer here!
